Institutional Policy Framework for Grievance Redressal Mechanism

 

Introduction:

The College under consideration has developed a comprehensive policy framework for addressing grievances in compliance with the guidelines set forth by the University Grants Commission (UGC). This framework encompasses multiple sub-committees operating within the Grievance Redressal Cell, dedicated to proactively resolving issues brought forward by stakeholders within the institution with collaboration to IQAC. The following criteria and cells were formed on 17th October, 2022 for the smooth functioning and timely redressal of any sort of complaints.

  2. Grievances Cell
  3. Anti-Ragging Cell
  4. Sexual Harassment Cell

Women Cell :

The Women Cell Committee was established in with a mandate to address complaints from both teaching and non-teaching staff members within the institution. The committee comprises five members:

The College Principal, and Five faculty members.

Grievances Cell :

Recently established, the Grievances Cell Committee focuses on resolving grievances related to examinations, admissions, internal assessments, class schedules, faculty, staff, and financial matters. The committee includes the Principal and Heads of Departments (HODs) from all academic departments. A committee is formed with diverse representation:

Anti-Ragging Cell :

Various preventive measures have been implemented, including the display of Anti-Ragging Posters across the campus and the establishment of an anonymous anti-ragging team tasked with monitoring and reporting instances of ragging.

Punishments:

In cases where ragging persists despite preventive measures, strict disciplinary actions are taken in alignment with UGC guidelines, such as suspension, debarring from examinations, cancellation of results, withdrawal of scholarships, rustication, and disqualification from representing the institution in competitions.

Sexual  Harassment Cell :

This cell was initiated with the aim to address issues related to women and female students of the college with five committee members and the Principal.

Policy:

Following the enactment of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, the institution aims to address complaints of sexual harassment promptly and sensitively.

 

The complaint mechanism is carried out in two levels in the institution:

  1. The departmental level grievances are attended by the concerned department heads.
  2. Unresolved grievances at the departmental level are referred to the Grievance Redressal Cell of the institution. The students can approach the Grievance Redressal Cell of the institution with their complaints of common interest too. They can directly communicate them to the Principal depending on the seriousness of the problem, the issues are settled by the Cell or by the Principal in consultation with other members of the institution, parents and faculty. The collective efforts of the Administrative staffs, department heads, class teachers, various staff coordinators of clubs and associations and the Grievance Redressal Cell resolve the complaints promptly and efficiently. The effective complaint management mechanism improves better relationship and contentment.

 

Conclusion:

Through these structured mechanisms and committees, the institution strives to maintain a conducive and harmonious learning environment, address grievances effectively, and uphold the principles of fairness, justice, and respect within its academic community.

Students can contact Dr A. Romabai Devi for any grievance. They can also drop their issue at the dropbox inside the college campus. Dropbox is opened every Tuesday and Friday under normal working week. In case of being holiday the Complain Box in opened on next day.
